Flaming Squirrels
This page is for the Flaming Squirrels. At the moment, it's just some thoughts for our get-together in October (2006), so if you aren't a Squirrel yourself, this probably has little attraction.
This time around, I have four songs I wrote which I'd like to try. They're all over the dial a bit, but hear you go:
- Speed Killer - driven rock song about bad drivers
- Right Here, Right Now - Christian rock, a bit more Springsteen or Mellencamp
- I Can See Your Glory - "churchy" sort of worship song
- Counting My Dreams - rather soppy three-time song
Anyway, I hope to work out chords etc for all of these ahead of our get-together. In this spirit, I've made a (really bad) recording of Speed Killer, so you can work out what it's about. It's deficient in that it needs another two verses (don't worry, I'll write them in time); the drums are the result of a half-hour with Hydrogen, the bass is me (I seem to be quite out of practice!) and vocals were made crouched under the desk due to my awkwardly-short mic lead! Anyway, hopefully you can at least get the idea. David, I think it needs some serious axe-work: distortion, feedback, the works. Drew, I'm sure you can do a lot better than my drum-machine efforts! Luke, if you can add a bit of rock and roll on the keyboard, that would be awesome. For my part, I'll work on making the bass less wince-some!
